Why do reminders keep popping up after I click "Close"?

I have a couple of recurring reminders that are supposed to pop up once each day. But when they pop up (as a notification) on my Macbook Air (OS 10.8.3) and I click "Close" they pop up again a few minutes later as though I had clicked "Snooze". Its really annoying! They just keep coming back. Eventually, for some reason, they don't any more.

Anyone else having this problem?

MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

I have a theory. Ok, so, the new notification center allows you to control what sends those notifications....None, Banners, etc......Well, if you're using ical & mail programs, syncing to a secondary calender system (such as gmail), you could be receiving many additional reminders. I've been getting reminders like crazy.....

So, I went into the notificaitons center, went to mail, turned off the notifications, and now I'm not getting a million reminders. Hope this helps.

I have this problem too. It is very annoying. For me it happens for Reminders and iCal alerts. I keep hitting Close, they keep coming back. Even worse, many of them show up more than once at the same time. I have a waterfall of reminders/alerts poup every 10 minutes or so at times. Very close to ditching Mac apps and using Outlook for mail/reminders(tasks)/calendar/contacts.

No you don't need to re-add anything manually since it's all synched from iCloud. All you're doing is disabling the sync, then re-enabling it later. All your calendar items and reminders are safe in iCloud.

Of course, this only applied to things that are synched to iCloud. If you have stuff that is only shown as On My Mac, then those will be deleted.

Try that:

1. Quit calendar and reminders

2. Uncheck Calendars and Reminders in System Preferences > Internet Accounts > iCloud

3. Go to ~/Library/Calendars. By default library is hidden. To view it do the foloowing:

a) Open Finder

b) Click Go in the menu

c) Press and hold Option button on the keyboard - it will add "library" to list under GO.

d) Click on Library

4. Delete all items under ~/Library/Calendars

5. Reboot your machine

6. Enable your Calendars and Reminders in System Preferences > Internet Accounts > iCloud.

It solved the issue for me, hopefully it will help others!
