strange album names in Library

Hi- I was having some issues with my iPhoto Library working with iPhoto Buddy (gave up on that for now anyway) and looked at my Pictures--->iPhoto Library--->Albums and noticed 3 odd names (they show as just Documents- is that correct?): Pending Rotation, Photo Library and one called Scrapbooking Stuff that I don't see in my actual iPhoto app- thought I deleted it- it's not listed in iPhoto anymore. So what are these 3 that I see in my iPhoto Library Album list? I don't dare delete them- iPhoto is very sensitive to that. Thanks, Judy

mrstee:

That Albums folder is a leftover from the iPhoto 5 days. iPhoto 6 does not use it and you can trash it. To be perfectly sure, move it to the desktop and then launch iPhoto. It should run as intended. Then you can trash that folder.

These are the items you should see a iPhoto 6 library folder. As you see there is no Albums folder.

Mine does not look like yours. I have a screen shot of mine but I don't know how to attach it like you did your screen shot. But it's like this:(albums)1998, 2001,2002,2003,2004,2005, AlbumData.sml, (album)Albums, com.apple.iPhoto.plist,(album)Data,Dir.data, (album)Import, iPhoto.ipspot,iPhotoLock.data, (album)iPod Photo Cache, Library.cache, Library.data, Library.iPhoto, Library6.iPhoto, (album)Modified, (album)Originals, Thumb32Segment.data, Thumb64Segment.data, ThumbJPGSegment.data.
So what this means to me is that I can delete all the albums? Is that right? Judy

(albums)1998, 2001,2002,2003,2004,2005 - those folders are leftover from the iPhoto Library version. Check to make sure there are no full sized image files in them and, if not, you can trash them. If there are any, extract the full sized image files to a folder on the desktop and import them from there. Be sure they are only the full sized files as there may be a lot of the thumbnail files in there that you do not want to import. Then delete the folder.

(album)Albums - that folder is also a leftover from the iPhoto 5 library and can be trashed directly.

Ok, I went through and rescued some photos and will double check to see if they are really still there. I can open iPhoto also! I matched up my iPhoto Library with yours and came across 3 other things I am wondering about- you have been so kind to help me out. The 3 are: iPod Photo cache (album), com.apple.iPhoto.plist (that doesn't seem in the right spot) and Library cache (generic looking icon- white). Can I delete these do you think? Once I get things all like they should be, I will try iPhoto Buddy again. Maybe it will work now. Thanks for all your help, Judy

The .plist file I think is from iPhoto Buddy. You can probably delete it and if you use iPhoto Buddy again you may have to re add it to iPB's list of libraries and that will create a new one.

I'm not sure what the iPod folder is for as I don't use iPhoto for assembling photos to add to my iPod. I may have tried it at one time and that's why I have it. If you don't have an iPod I think you can delete it.

I don't know what the Library cache file is. I don't have one in either of the V6, V5 or V4 libraries. What is the Modified date on it? You can try moving it to the desktop, launch iPhoto and see if it gets recreated or not. If not, trash it.
