Q: iTunes is not accepting my password - again.

Why do they constantly have issues with this?  When I type in my user name and password is just flashes back to needing to type in my user name and password again and again.  I even tried changing my password to no avail.

I was prompted to change my password in itunes.  Did that, and now itunes is not accepting my new password.  It's OK everywhere else, but not on itunes.  I rebooted several times.  Signed out of itunes, and tried signing back in, to no avail.  This all stated when I tried to purchase something.  This is incredibly aggravating.  Seriously Apple, fix this.  Please.  You're better than this.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same issue!  Online support is a joke.  I can log in to all my ipads and iphones and online but I cannot use my pw on my desktop version of itunes.  This is so frustrating!  I tried everything everyone suggested and nothing works!  HELP!!!  I can't buy anything to save onto my computer.  You would think apple would fix this issue if they want my $$$

Thanks vboombatz. Safari was the problem. Allowed cookies and iTunes works now!

Thanks vboombatz. It seems to be working so far. I've had this problem for AGES and NEVER would have put the two together. I'm ALWAYS clearing cookies and not allowing in Safari unless I need to. I guess those few times it worked I was allowing cookies. It's so random I never would've figured it out. If it keeps working I'll be totally psyched.

What was so confusing was that when I bought a song, I could sign in and buy it. When I wanted to update my iPhone apps it wouldn't accept the same password, unless I un-knowingly accepted cookies in Safari. Thanks. : >

The problem just started today for me without any update.

ETA: Just saw the post on cookies. Guess I'll have to live with the annoyance (thanks, Apple!) because I refuse being forced to turn on cookies in Safari.

You don't have to leave cookies forever, just when you want to download updates in iTunes. Yes, it is annoying, but at least it works. Open Safari, set cookies to "From third parties and advertisers" and quit Safari. Open iTunes, sign in, do what you need to do (download app updates etc...) then you can block cookies in Safari again. It is a pain, but it's the ONLY thing that ever worked for me. Still not sure why.

I just wanted to say that I had the same problem as described above. I have 10.9.5 Mavericks and 12.0.1.26 I Tunes. I had set safari to block cookies always, and this stopped me from logging in. When I changed Safari prefs "Block Cookies and other website data" to "From third parties and advertisers" iTunes logged me in again.

    There you go.

I spent 1 hr on the phone with Apple support.  Here's what we found out:

    * iTunes needs to sync with Safari Cookies.  You need to reset your iTunes Cache under Preferences. Then go into Safari - Preferences - Advanced - Privacy setting "Block cookies from 3rd party and advertisers" .

Reboot iTunes and that worked for me.

I didn't have this problem before the yesterday's Yosemite update.

    Dear APPLE S/W Geek employees,

FIX THIS!!! I'm so over it. This kind of error is ridiculous.

I don't have that option under Safari Advanced settings. Are you sure it's in that location?
