How to manage storage on 4s

How do you manage storage on Iphone 4S? I keep getting messages that my storage is full and need to manage storage. I have gone through and deleted lots of pics and unneeded apps. What does the 5G I Cloud storage mean?

If it's with your regular phone storage, then you're doing the right thing by deleting photos and apps. But if it's iCloud as I suspect, then you will need to make sure that if you have @me.com or @icloud.com email address, that the inboxes are clean. Then clean out your photo streams if you have any. You probably don't need all of those photos there. And finally, if none of those do it, check your settings by going to settings ->iCloud->Storage and Backup->Manage Storage. From there you can pick what you backup to your computer. As for me, however, I still do the syncing and backup manually because I have a lot of photos and apps and other stuff. You can go to Manage storage and you don't have to backup all your apps (especially your free ones, unless you have data stored on those apps, eg. Evernote, Google Drive, etc.)

Hope this helped!

There are really two parts to your question:

1. Manage storage on your iPhone. You do this by going to Settings > General > Usage. But that has nothing to do with a 5G limit, and is probably not why you are getting messages about storage being full.

2, Manage iCloud storage. You manage this by going to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage. This is the likely reason you're getting the message. You can clean up some or purchase more storage.

For 4s: If you go to Settings--General-Usage, you'll see how storage is allocated. It's a little ambiguous. The "storage" information you see at first relates to iCloud storage; but directly underneath Apps are listed in order of the storage space they use on your iPhone. In my cse, Photos & Camera were hogging 4.1 gb (some 450 photos on phone). Even after deleting 50 of photos, marginal reduction in storage since a gb is a LOT of space.

You can move what's stored on your phone to the cloud, and/or your mac (if that's the computer you have). Then the problem is solved.

I'm still puzzled. I have a 16g i4s. I have 12.6G of used storage on the iphone with 0bytes available now. I have 50G available on the Cloud with 49G available, but have not found a way to take/transfer items from, the iphone drive and put it on the iCloud. I've gone to "manage" storage for both drives but it shows me nothing but what has been used and what is available. What am I missing? What good is 40G of iCloud if I can't put anything on it??

SO nobody replied to you question.

i Have same question./ problem.

i Have a full 4s and can't figure how to get the photos perminantly off the phone to make space.

the back up is useless a it's only there in case you need to restore your phone.

i Want to store the data from my phone on a cloud , any cloud , where I can get to it in the same way I access it when using my phone

but nobody tell you how to do that.

i May have to buy another phone because I can't make space on my phone as I don't know where it's gone.

it so confusing.
