Cant update apps. says I've not owned major version when i am only owner.

I cannot update my apps. Apple says You Can't update this software since you have not owned the major version. I am the only owner.

I've had this probelm before trying to upgrade apps.

I've got the same problem. Apps update on my iPad/iPhone, but I can't update them on my two computers. One of my computers shows 30 apps to be updated. When I click on "Update All Apps", I get the "Terms and Conditions and Apple Privacy Policy" screen. I click the "agree" box and get the message, "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software".

I am logged into the same iTunes account that I used to purchase this software. I've tried logging out and back in to no avail. I was able to get one app to update by clicking on the one app and it's update button rather than "update all". But that only worked for the one app.

This is happening ever since the last ios update. The itunes screen is changed, and now there are two apps, (which are updated on my iphone, by the way) that I cannot update. Same message, "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software." That's a bug on Apple's part.

I guess I'll live with it until they fix it. But it's really irritating to have to answer the messages with a click instead of just letting all of the apps update on their own, which used to happen before the ios update.

I had the same problem after replacing a hard drive in my computer. It turns out that I couldn't update the apps because they weren't downloaded onto my hard drive after reinstalling the new one.

In iTunes, click on "Apps" in the left column. Then click on "All" in the top nav bar. See if the apps you can't update are listed. If not, find them in the store and redownload them (you shouldn't have to repay for them if you purchased them in the past with the same iTunes account). Once you've got all your apps showing in the "All" window, you should be able to update them.

It would be nice if Apple reinstalled and updated purchased apps rather than give that cryptic message. Hope that helps.
