how to fix a billing problem with a previous purchase

when i go to update an app i get a pop up that says there is a billing problem with a previous purchase. i sign in my apple id. the screne says security code is invalid. correct because i no longer use that credit card. how do i put in the new card information..?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.3

me too,I already check my purchase history.theres is nothing problem at all.I also checked my subscriptions,none of it.but i cant update and install any free apps.its always shows billing issue.please help me solve this problem apple.tq!

I’ve been struggling forever with this , you get on the apple site and log in , you’ll have options as to what you want to review over your account and one of the choices will be “payment” there you can change it back to none . But I still am having trouble with the “there is a billing problem with a preview purchase “ I hope this helps a bit

Changing your account information using an iOS device:

  1. Tap Settings on the Home screen.
  2. Tap iTunes & App Stores.
  3. Tap on your Apple ID. (If you are not signed in, enter your Apple ID and password, and tap Sign In.)
  4. Tap View Apple ID.
  5. Enter your Apple ID password.


To update your name, billing address, or payment information, follow these instructions:

  1. In the Edit section, tap Payment Information.
  2. Update the information that you want to change.
  3. Tap the Done button when finished.
