my mouse seems to just "HOLD" on to an icon and will not let it go

After updating some of my video editing software, my mouse seems to just "HOLD" on to an icon and will not let it go. Any ideas?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), Adobe CS6, Final Cut X

Try restarting your Mac.

Thanks. Off an on did not work, BUT after restarting I hit sleep by accident and when it came back everything worked. Not sure if it was a fluke or will return at next reboot, but so far I am working well.
