Nikon Raw files decoder - loss of information and oversatured pics

Hi all,

I am posting in the Aperture category even tough I am pretty sure this a bug due to the Apple's NEF decoder. Lightroom doesn't show this issue and neither does the ViewNX 2 software from Nikon.

Opening the .NEF file from the Preview or from any other Photo program gives the first picture in the attachment. This has started happening only after sunset when blue stroboscopic lights started. All the pics before and after the show are fine.

- If this is has a solved solution - Can somebody point me out to an useful link ?

Many thanks guys!

Marco

Marco,

the raw processing seems to have a problem with artificial light in poor lighting situations.

Have a look at this thread for similar cases: Re: Raw Color Treatment

The only help I found to mitigate the problem a little was to use the raw fine tuning controls and adjust the boost sliders.

Léonie

And you may want to use the feedback form in Aperture's -menu to send a bug report.

I haven't seen that problem specifically, but I would strongly encourage you to use Aperture's "Submit Feedback" to ensure the information gets to Apple's engineers. These are user-to-user forums so Apple doesn't necessarily read them. In the event that this is actually a bug (I don't know whether that's the case), it would be best to send on the data so they can know.

Hi

In my Aperture 3.6 with Digital Camera RAW 6 under OS X 10.10 Yosemite the Problem with too dark and saturated Blue colours from LED-Illumination is largely solved. Using the brightness slider fixes the remaining rest.

It took a long time, but Yosemite seems to take care of photography. This gives hope for the Aperture successor Photos.

Thanks
