pick up refurbished items

At least some refurbished items are eligible for in-store pickup, but you must order through the online Apple Store. The retail Apple Stores don't stock refurbished items, unless things have changed very recently, so you can't just walk in and buy one.

You may also be able to get refurbished items from Premium resellers. Here in the UK I understand it is possible to buy and pick up from some branches of the Stormfront group.

I ordered my current refurb iMac from the Apple online store and chose to pick it up at an Apple store, so yes, you can pick it up at a store, but must order it online.

Are resellers in the UK allowed to sell refurbs that carry an Apple warranty? In the US, only the online Apple store has refurbs with an Apple warranty. Resellers may or may not extend a warranty of their own, but it is not the regular Apple warranty (as the reseller refurbished the machine rather than Apple) and you'll need to deal with the reseller rather than Apple if there is a problem.

The Hong Kong Apple Store does not appear to have an in-store pickup option for refurbished items, though you can call and ask.

Have now been able to talk to Stormfront who tell me they do not sell refurbished items so I was wrong. Nor do they know if that may change in the future but for the moment, they do everything else in terms of sales and repairs.

No problem - there are resellers here that will sell refurbished, but will only extend their own warranty as Apple will not allow an Apple warranty unless they inspect/refurbish the machine (so they told me when I inquired before buying my last iMac).
