can i read a book on my macbook air?

I have downloaded books and would like to read them on my macbook air. Is that possible?

Most ibooks from Apple can only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. You might be able to read some ibooks which don't have digital rights management on them via programs such as Calibre e.g. some free ibooks and those from a one or two publishers (I believe o'Reilly's ibooks are DRM-free)
