iMac Bookmarks

I have a iMac desktop. I set my bookmarks on the bookmark bar. It looks great but when I go back later the bookmarks are no longer there. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help!!

Triple-click the line below to select it:

~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services â–¹ Show Info

from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.

  • Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
  • In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
  • What is the Modified date?
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard ( command-C). Open a TextEdit window and paste into it ( command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

Let's try something else...

Try creating a new Bookmark.

With Safari open go to a site you want to Bookmark.

From the top of your screen in the menu click Bookmarks > Add Bookmark

You will see a drop down window.

Click the pop up menu and select Bookmarks Bar then click Add.

You should see the Bookmark in the Bookmarks bar.
