iPhone Mobile Configuration Utility 802.1x Profile New Password/Clear Existing Credentials

I have a question regarding a profile created using the iPhone Mobile Configuration Utility. The profile that has been created to connect an 802.1x network. The profile does not include username and password as each user must enter his/her credentials manually after installing the profile.

I have encountered a problem with the profile when a user changes his/her password. The user already has the profile loaded on his/her device (iPhone or iPad). The user has been successfully authenticated to the network after manually entering his/her existing credentials. When a user changes his/her password, the device simply reports that it is "Unable to join network." At no time is the user prompted to enter his/her new password.

The only way I have found to remedy this issue is to delete the profile and install it again. After the delete/install, the user is prompted for credentials. The user can then enter his/her username and new password.

Instead of deleting the entire mobileconfig profile, I am wondering if there is a way to clear the stored username/password?

I am able to add a new password when using the same config on a Mac desktop running Lion and Mountain Lion- I do not have to delete the profile and add it back in.

Any advice would be appreciated.
