MacBook Pro Display Stays Black

Hello all,

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro that has not had any problems for 2 years until last night. I opened my computer after a 5 hour road trip and he screen began flickering. After a few minutes of occasional slow flickering, it speed up for a few seconds and then the screen went black. This morning I restarted in safe mode and after restarting again in normal mode the display appeared to be fixed. I closed the computer and opened back up about 3 hours later. The display immediately went black and now I am unable to start in safe mode as the display is always black. I have tried resetting PRM to no avail.

Please advise.
