I had the same issue with XP. I did sort out the problem by 1) verifying and updating the Date & Clock parameters of my computer and 2) by deleting and re-downloading I-Tunes. Now it works !

I've deleted and redownloaded and i still get the error!?

Sometimes McAfee dll files can cause connectvity problems with certain apps.
