Q: Itunes is not installing?

Whenever I try to Install Itunes 11.0.3 for Windows XP

The download bar gets about to half full, the Status is: "Copying New Files" I get an error message that says "Error writing to file: C:\ProgramFiles\Itunes\ITDetector.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory." I tried Installing it at least 5 times and I get the same error message!

*If no one knows how to solve this does anyone know how to contact apple??*

PS I do not want to download Itunes from a different site! But if it comes to that I will ;p

Any help will be appreciated

Thank

Jordan

I'm having the same problem.  11.0.4 just came out and the same thing happens!  How do we get a solution for this?  No one replies with an answer and I don't know how to get to a person at Apple unless I pay $20 for technical assistance....

Uninstall everything Apple, reboot, delete the iTunes folder in C:\Program Files if it still exists, try again.

No worries, making sure is a good thing.

As advised in the other thread I'd recommend you backup your iTunes folder to another drive first.

You can then use Control Panel > Add/Remove or Programs & Features to uninstall:

    Apple Application Support

    Apple Mobile Device Support

    Apple Software Update

    Bonjour

    iTunes

    QuickTime

Reboot, delete the iTunes folder in C:\Program Files if it still exists, then reinstall iTunes. It will pick up your library and your devices will be able to sync with it.

"Browse to the drive or network folder you want to use for the backup, use the Make New Folder button to create a new folder, rename it as iTunes, select it and click OK"

When I create a New folder in SyncToy and I click New Folder where do I put the new folder?
Does it really matter? Can I put it on "Local Disc (C:)"

I feel so stupid with these questions ;P

You should be backing up your library to a separate physical drive to guard against problems with the original. Portable USB powered drives are quite reasonably priced.

The CRC error suggests a problem on your hard drive, so all the more important that you get all your personal data backed up elsewhere.

You can check the drive for errors by opening a command prompt and typing in CHKDSK /R - if prompted to check free space for errors say yes.

Which drive do I save it in? 3½ Floppy (A:), DVD-RAM Drive (D:), Removeable Disc (F:), Removeable Disc  (G:), Removeable Disc (H:), Removeable Disc (I:), or Removeable Disc (J:)

Or I will probably need to buy one?
