Do iOS's have to be installed in sequential order?

Do iOS's have to be installed in sequential order?

Do all the iOS's need to be installed in sequential order, or can any be skipped or installed out of order? i.e. can 6.1.3 be installed after 6.1.4? Are each free-standing, or do they build upon one another? I was directed to install 6.1.4 even knowing there was an earlier one I also needed to install (version unknown) which was done today. Do I now need to install earlier ones, and if so, how do I find my history as to which previous versions were on here, to find which might still be needed? Or does each update include the previous one as well? Thanks everyone for your help!

No.

The most recent has everything.

An new OS version is not patched. It is full, complete install.

They are not sequential and are stand alone. You could go straight from iOS 6.0 to 6.1.4 on an iphone 5. You can't install iOS 6.1.3 any more because it is not the latest for the iphone 5. earlier iOS's can't be installed and downgrading is not possible

Thank you, but if they stand alone, wouldn't they have some information not in the other update? So if you skip to the most recent, you in fact skip some information?

I don't know where you got that idea. Each update is completely stand-alone and contains all the most current parts of the OS.

No, they don't have to be installed in any particular order as long as what you install is a later version than what is currently installed. You cannot downgrade.

Well 6.1.4 included some fix for a speakerphone issue that was not in 6.1.3 but effectively 6.1.4 has everything that is in 6.1.3
