Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2 will not install. After installing, it just reappears in update tab on Mac App Store.

I have tried, multiple times, to intall the Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2. Each time it installs, it restarts my computer and appears to install fine. After logging back into my RMBP and going back into the update tab on the Mac App Store, the 1.2 update appears again. If I update it, this process just repeats.

Anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it?

Thank you.

No, I downloaded the firmware update, and I get this message:

Installing this package may damage your system, and the installation may fail. To stop the program and the installation, click “Cancel Installation”.

So I guess no scintillation for mw, and I will just hope the other two installs via Apple Store did not destroy my NEW TO ME laptop.

When you're trying to install the update, was your AC power plugged in?

I had the same problem, but this time my AC was plugged in and the update didn't pop up anymore.

When I tried to read the announcement of Thunderbolt update 1.2 from Apple, there's a note at the last sentence.

"Note: Your computer must be plugged into AC power for the update to install."

Hope this might help

I've tried this update at least 30 times. I've even downloaded the installer from the Apple web site and run it locally. It still won't work for me. I have an iMac, so the power plug issue is not relevant. After a second call to Apple Tech Support, the tech I talked to contradicted what I was originally told by Apple Technical support about this being a known issue 😕 I'm now told that I must have a hardware issue, so I need to bring my Mac in for repair.

Dawn, you are not alone. I am having the exact same problem. I have the iMac 27" with SSD drive. In fact, I've only had it just over a week. I've tried this update over 10 times already and just got off the phone with Apple Tech Support. We tried all of the usual procedures, including, re-installing OS X. I left a message with my case number with the tech helping me with this issue, so waiting for them to call me back. Doubt they will call this evening (Sunday), but hopefully they can get this resolved without me taking it in for repair cause I'm under some deadlines. Ugh!

I'm also not seeing a new update. I still have the version 1.2 update showing in the App Store and it still won't "take", although I tried it again just a minute ago.

One bit of information I've left out here is that both my Thunderbolt ports are dead. They used to work, but stopped working just a few days before I noticed this update for the first time. My initial call to Tech Support indicated that the firmware update would resolve the issue with the Thunderbolt ports, but I don't feel like I'm getting reliable information from Apple Tech Support on this.

When I said new updates, I was referring to the new iTunes release etc. The 11.0.4 seems to have been rushed, after Apple totally botched up the 11.0.3 PoS release. Anyhow, that's another story.

Thunderbolt and some other stuff still hasn't updated for me, but I am so busy with other issues I'm not going to worry about this one just yet. Ironicaly, I still don't own anything with Thunderbolt so I can't even check my ports, haha!
