Does Waveburner automatically dither 24 bit to 16 bit when burning a CD, or is it just stripping off the last 8 bits?

Hi folks.

This is the first time I've used this application. I have created a project in Waveburner and imported 24 bit 44.1kHz files. I'm all set to burn a CD, but I see no controls for dithering the files correctly to 16 bit. So will Waveburner do this automatically, or will it simplyy strip off the last 8 bits? I can see a dithering option if I want to bounce the whole thing to my hard-drive, but not if I want to burn a CD.

Thanks for your help.

Excerpt from Mastering in Logic:

>>What isn’t immediately obvious is that the Bounce preferences also dictate

how WaveBurner burns audio to a CD – particularly with respect to the appli-

cation of Dither. Therefore, as long as the Bounce preference is set to dither,

WaveBurner will automatically dither your files as part of the burn – with-

out specifying the need to burn. In the rare case that you are importing files

already processed and dithered, you’ll need to remember to return to the

preferences and turn the dithering off.<<

Hope this is of any help……

Cheers!
