Hi all,

I am having problems with DNS,AD authentication,AFP/SMB Shares and I think I have found that the problem is being caused because the hostname does not match the DNS name.

I need to change the hostname on my server so that it matches the DNS entries (DNS is dealt with by a windows box).

This is the only OS X server that we have and it acts as an OD master and it is running Mountain Lion.

The only information that I can find online is people stating the problems that they have encountered because of changing their hostname, what would be process be to cause as little disruption as possible?

Currently all the clients are bound to OD using the .local hostname so I presume that I will need to run around all the clients to change this once I have made the change?

I am a bit nervous that I am going to break more than I fix so I appreciate any advice!
