Q: early 2012 MBP screen went black fails to restart - heats up no fans

My screen went black on me just like that, no previous issues.  I have not been able to get past the grey/white screen with thinking pinwheel and status bar.  The status bar takes about 8-10mins and shutsdown.  I can however get into the disk utility and do a repair which states all partitons seem to be ok.  I have restarted and shutdown from utility with no luck.  Any thoughts?  I do have an appointment set up at the genious bar......
