CD-ROM`s are not working on windows 8 (Boot Camp)

I have installed Windows 8 in my MacBook Pro (2011) And it works fine. I updated my boot camp drivers today and now sound and brightness works great 🙂 But i have one problem, im trying to install my pc game to windows 8, but the disc wont appear anywhere on w8. I see it on MAC side, but not on windows side. What i can do? I have searched information of this, but i cant find anything. Somebody can tell me what i have to do?

In Desktop, click on Windows Explorer, the thing that looks like a folder on the left at the bottom. Don't look in Documents, but on the left you will see Computer, and the DVD drive D should be somewhere there. You can click on it to open it up.

Nope, there is no drive D there and the other thing is, secuROM. I have installed the game other way, but secuROM says that i have no CD-ROM in, but i have :/

I am no expert, but the drive normally appears there a couple of seconds after you put something in. As you see it in Mac, there is no problem with the CD or the drive hardware. I wonder if it is worth running Apple Software Update on the Windows side, as it sounds as though the relevant driver has not been properly installed.

Use System Restore to put Windows back where it was before you updated the Boot Camp drivers (Windows Drivers)

Why? It did not work then. I updated boot camp drivers couse i thought that it would help me with this problem.

Did you check Control Panel>Device Manager ?

Open up the DVD/CD-ROM Drives and see if your drive is even listed.

If it is try updating the drivers.

If not Run Action>Scan for Hardware Changes and see if Windows finds the Drive.

i can`t see DVD/CD-ROM drivers there and when i scan for hardware changes, nothing happens :/ Im i only one with this problem?

PS. I solved secuROM thing other way and game works now, but that doesn`t mean that CD-ROM`s are working :/

Not clear if you can actually see a DVD device listed in Device Manager.

Your reply mentions "Drivers" and we need to know if Windows can actually see a DVD device?

Have you tried attaxhing an external DVD Device and see if Windows recognizes it?

Just for information, and to avoid the OP becoming depressed, I have CD/DVD working perfectly with Windows 8 on two Macs. On neither do I see anything related to the CD/DVD under Control Panel>Devices etc.

I am running a MacBook Pro 13" i7 Late 2011 and have had no problems with the DVD on the Windows side even before the 5.02 Drivers were released.

In My Windows 8 Control Panel > Device MANAGER

The seventh item down is DVD/CD-ROM drives

Expening this item by clicking the arrow to expand the device clearly shows my DVD as a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-8A8 ATA Device.

Windows should be showing something if you are using DEVICE MANAGER under the Control Panel in Windows

In the BootCamp Windows Support Software - BootCamp5.0.5033 you downloaded from Apple

Locate the BootCamp > Drivers > Apple directory (folder)

There will be a file there titled AppleODDInstaller64.exe right click this file and select Run as administrator.
