I've got an Intel iMac core2Duo 2,66GHz that is working on an external FW800 128GB SSD due to an failure of the internal Controler more than a year ago.

During the rendering process of an HD-video with iMovie the black box appeared, that orders you to shut down your computer, and restart...

I did as I had been told, and I was left with a blank dark screen just with the starting noise of the DVD-drive, that is dying after several seconds and then with nothing, nada,......

Any ideas what's going on?

Do I have to dump my iMac or is there any light on the computer wreck horizon?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
