How do I open a .zip file when my Archive Utility app has disappeared and I cannot open a .zip file. Help.

I've read many discussion threads about Archive Utility disappearing but haven't been able to solve my problem. I am running OS X 10.8.3 and do not have an Archive Utility application and cannot open a .zip file. There is a .99 app at the App Store but I don't understand why this is not a free app within Apple OS. Help.

MacBook (13-inch Aluminum Late 2008), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Archive Utility app is within Apple OS. Check inside Macintosh HD>System>Library>Core Services

You can also download this FREE utility called Stuffit Expander directly from the App Store. This utility can open anything. Make sure you check its Preferences & enable all the files you wan SE to open.
