ipad slows down network

Whenever the ipad 3 connects to my home network (wifi) my latency on other computers shoots through the roof. It basically makes online gaming impossible.

I've called my isp and they checked the connection and router hardware and what not and it's not on their end, they say the ipad is doing something to slow down the network.

I've looked at everything, even turned off icloud (I think at least) but it's still happening. The second the ipad connect to wifi all other computers start lagging.

I only have 2 computers hooked up to my wifi and when I have friends over and they use their laptops, this does not happen. It's the ipad.

Obviously this is a game breaker for me, if I can't get this issue fixed the ipad will have to go. I'd love if anyone could help me with this one.
