how do i insert a blank slide into imovie?

i need to have spaces inbetween my scenes with text to set up for the next scene. i would be greatful if there was anyone out there to help.

The way I always do it is to switch to the timeline viewer (rather than clip viewer). Grab the clip to the right of where you want the space and simply slide it over a bit. Switch back to the clip viewer and you will find you now have a nice black clip. Double click on the clip and you can change the duration to anything you want as well as the color if you wish. You can now add text over this like any other clip.
