Icon alert about A proxy file created by Final Cut Pro not in its expected location in the Finder

I got a icon alert next to the project name that says: A proxy file created by Final Cut Pro is not in its expected location in the Finder. How do I fix that? How is it going to affect my project? I am new to the Final Cut pro 10. I erased two icons on my desktop that were unknown to me. Maybe that is what caused the problem? What to do now? The project plays fine but I have HD and SD media in the same project. Hope someone can help me fix that problem.

Thanks.

Hi Tom,

By the way I looked in the playback ref. and it's not set as proxy. I guess I am not using proxy media, since I did not select it on the Import preferences.

Where do I look for the proxy media folder? I don't find it in the Event or Project folders?

I am new to this version and used to the old Interface of Final Cut Pro7.

There was a tool that you could use in the past to select all the cligs ahead from the playhead and move big "chunks" of the project. Does this tool disapeared in this new version?

Thanks for your help,

Jacqui

Hi again,

I did some more research and found out actually that when I open my Project Library I can press on the icon alert and then it send me to the information window to: exported files.

So maybe its not about proxy media files....User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

I also probably did not import the files right when I started the project, because I see all the media on Macintosh HD and not when I click on the event name. It was my first try with the new version 🙂

Please help me to clarify these questions.

Thanks a lot!

The "broadcast" icon means it has been exported before.

The exclamation point added only means it has been edited again since the last export.

It does NOT mean the exported file is or is not in the same place. I hate to correct Tom, he's a well respected smart guy. But no, that is not correct. Test it, you'll see.

If you click the magnifying glass icon in the Inspector where it lists your exports, it will open a Finder window to show you the exported file. If the exported file has been moved to another location or deleted, nothign will happen when you click the magnifying glass icon.
