May 22, 2013 3:33 AM in response to yrkaoby wjosten,★HelpfulIf you lose your phone, and someone finds it, whether locked with a passcode or a sim pin won't matter, if they want to keep it. All they have to do is, swap in their sim & then force the phone into recovery mode & restore it as a new device.
The only way to prevent the phone from being used, as a phone, is if your carrier offers Blacklisting & Blacklists the phone.

What if the phone is not automatically locked or the PIN is "cracked"? With another SIM card or WIFI access, the "new owner" will be able to continue accessing IMAP e-mail accounts and other services if the "original owner" overlooked changing passwords. I am assuming that very likely the "new owner" would use the iPhone as a mobile phone and insert a working SIM card. I believe most people remember to disable SIM cards on loss of phone but overlook the rest. Re-entering PINs can be a useful security feature.

May 22, 2013 4:14 AM in response to yrkaoby wjosten,★HelpfulIf you don't use a passcode, your data will be accessible to anyone that finds the phone. So, use a passcode. This will require that anyone that finds the phone force it into recovery mode & restore it as a new device, erasing all data on the phone.

You're welcome.
Then they risk having all of their data accessible & dealing with the resulting consequences.
