what is "other" on my hard disk

When I look at my storage on my 251GB Flash Storage, I see 70GB is taken up with Apps, movies, photos and music but then I see 75GB of "other" space taken up.

I have tried to look for what other is, but I can't find it. Any thoughts on what this might be?

Thanks,

Matt

Other is everything that is not Audio, Movies, Photos, Apps, or Backups. That leaves system files, documents, support files, databases, preferences, etc.

Get OmniDisk Sweeper, which will allow you to see exactly where your drive space is being used.

Sounds like you're running Lion or Mountain Lion, but you posted in the Snow Leopard forum.
