I have found a link to download through Pacifist (posted on other posts) but I still cannot configure my Airport Extreme.
Does anyone have a solution or is the product too dated for Mountain Lion?

Can you help us understand your situation a bit better, please?
The title of your post mentions that you have an AirPort Express, yet you describe difficulty with the configuration of an AirPort Extreme.
Can you clarify on what product you have?
If you have an AirPort Express, please check and post the model number found on the side of the device. If you have an AirPort Extreme, please post the model number found on the bottom of the device. In all cases, the model number will begin with an "A" followed by 4 numbers.
When you say that you cannot configure your AirPort, we assume that you were able to install AirPort Utility 5.6 successfully on your Mac running Mountain Lion.
Does this mean that AirPort Utility cannot "see" the AirPort at all......or......does AirPort Utility "see" the AirPort but you are not able to configure the AirPort?
Any error messages that you have seen will help us understand your issue more clearly.

My apologies for the confusing response- it was written at the height of my frustration.
I am using an Airport Express and the model number is: A1084. I am using Mountain Lion (10.8.3) and as mentioned I used the same technique as Joel Pro (in a previous post). Now, when I click on my network I can see the Airport Express; however, when I try to log onto it I get a display message saying that I do not have the right software to run it in Airport Utility 5.6.

AirPort Utility 5.6 installed on Mountain Lion will certainly work with an A1084 AirPort Express, as I've just tested this out again here with an older A1084 that I had on hand.
If you have not already done so, you might want to try a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Express and try again.
Power off the AirPort Express
Wait a few minutes
Hold in the reset button first, and keep holding it for an additional 9-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the AirPort Express back in to power
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow a full minute for the Express to restart
Click the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen and look for a wireless network with a name of Apple Network xxxxxx
Log on to that network....no password is required....then open AirPort Utility 5.6 to see if it will recognize the Express
You can also temporarily connect an Ethernet cable from your Mac to the Express. Once you have the Express configured, disconnect the Ethernet cable.
