how do movie rentals work in Apple TV? i rented a movie but it won't download. says 29 days remaining!

I have rented movies previously on my mac. it would download first and then be ready for playback. 2 months back i got an apple tv. i rented my first movie. it says it was downloading it but then, much fast than i would expect, the movie seemed to be already downloaded and ready for playback. upon selecting playback i noticed that it had only bufffered a few minutes of the movie. it was perrinially stuck there. i got a refund for the movie.,

yesterday i tried my second movie. this time it didn't even mention that it was downloading or anything and it just said "29 days left". i knew the movie wouldn't be downloaded so fast so i haven't started the playback yet.

apple support said that apple tv's dont "download" rental movies and that they "buffer" them as "it doesn't have enough memory!". as far as i know this thing has got 8gbs.

in anycase, can someone tell me how it works.

i dont have a mac with airplay mirroring. can i still rent movies from itunes and "airplay" then to my 40 inch?

The Apple TV streams the movie you rent and loads up enough in its memory to let you watch buffer free and then forgets the movie. You get a rental for 30 days until you start to watch it then you have if for 48 hours.

The only thing you can do is play it when you want to watch it, if there is a problem when you do that contact apple or post again. The Apple TV does not download the movie so if you switch off and resume later it will need to reload but can start from where you left off.
