"No importable cards were found error."

Operating v.10.8.3. Using contacts to import a .vcf (v. 2.1) file, sent to the download folder. Done it dozens of times before, prior to v.10.8.3. In the past, no problems. Now I get the "No importable cards were found error." Have tested it with 6 different .vcf downlaods, all v.2.1...same error message. Any suggestions?

Update for all. Today I discovered the problem and corrected it. The cards were downloading with the first line "blank". In other words, there was an entire single line space at the start of the card, before the "Begin". Once i deleted that spacing, with "Begin" now the first word, on the first line, the vCards downloaded perfectly as always. That was my solution, to my problem. Thanks all who tried to help.

Yes...data is available and visible via TextEdit. Unless I am missing something, likely something rather blatantly obvious, none of those solutions were applicable. Most of the solutions address a batch file movement of data from source A to source B, which was/is a known problem with Address Book/Contacts. My Contacts is currently and has been working great. I am trying to add a single, site specific, .vcf to Contacts. Worked like a charm in the pre- v.10.8.3 days, so I suspected that the issue has to be linked to either v.10.8.3 or the specific website. Tested on another site and the problem persists, so, have to believe it is linked to the v.10.8.3 upgrade. Suggestions?

No problems editing and saving data in Contacts. Just ran a new test 30 seconds before writing this. Also, no problem exporting .vcf files...works like a charm. Just can't import them. I know the error message is a known issue, which goes back to at least 2007, but it has exhibited itself under varying circumstances, mostly dealing with batch operations, which have resulted in varying solutions. However, none of those seem appropriate to my situation and could actually make matters worse (data corruption or deletion), rather than better. Good questions, though. I am just out of ideas, after much reading and implementing the more sane options, nothing seems to resolve the issue.
