safari slow
Safari runs very slow. I downloaded Chrome and other browsers to test them. They run great. Is there a way to download a fresh version of Safari?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6)

The latest Safari version for your 10.6 OS, assuming it is 10.6.8.Snow Leopard, is 5.1.9.
Others may disagree, but my experience of Chrome has not been good. Too many extentions from dodgy backgrounds. Moreover it tends to hog memory and being short on memory is usually one of the key signs of a slow performance.
How much do you have?
Doubtful reinstalling Safari will speed things up.
Several things to try.
Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab.
Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, follow the instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If that didn't make a difference, select t he Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that made a difference, turn Extensions back on then uninstall one at a time to test.
Empty the cache more often. Command + Option + E on your keyboarrd.
If nothing above has helped, open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following: ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari and test again.
I tried many of the fixes listed with little success. However, the following worked for me (OS 10.6.8):
Go to your System Preferences - Network. Click on the "Advanced" button. Goto the "TCP/IP" tab and turn Off "Configure IPv6."
After I did that, my interent significantly picked up speed.
