Select an .fdf file in Finder and in the menubar, go to File > Get Info. Under the "Open With" category, make sure the application of your choice (likely Acrobat Reader) is selected, then click Change All... Close the window, and try opening the document.

thanks for helping but Acrobat Reader is already the default viewer for fdf files.
When I say "nothing happens" I was erratic: Acrobat opens, but the content of the file is not shown.
The .fdf works perfectly under Windows XP
It looks like there's an issue with Acrobat then. I'm not sure if Preview can open fdf files, but have you tried opening them in Preview?
Also, try opening Acrobat and going to File > Open and opening the files manually.
I've tried everything, no way...Preview does not mange these files
Hi plutuz,
I've tried everything, no way...
Does "everything" include right click (control click) then Open With > Preview?
Ever since I installed Adobe Acrobat, I have had trouble with PDF forms (they appear to work for me, but then have blank fields when I send them by email). The solution that works for me is to set Preview as the preferred app for PDFs (and presumably .fdf files???)
Hope this helps,
Ian.
yep, tried also this tip...doesn't work 😟
