I can't access my iphoto library as I'm told I need to update iphoto. When I go to update it says there is no update available for this version -- HELP!

The Iphoto is version 2008 but it won't let me upgrade to a newer version.

IMac, Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Os is version 10.6.8

The exact Iphoto is 7.1.5 (378)

The message I'm getting is :

You can't open your iphoto library using this version of iphoto. You made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iphoto.

When I could no longer open the photos on this computer I copied them to an external drive. I viewed the photos on a borrowed computer and was able to see them but now I'm getting the message to upgrade but again, when I go to upgrade it tells me I can't on this computer becuase OS 10.7.5 or later is required. I'm not given the option to upgrade to 10.7.5 though -- it says my software is up to date.

Thanks for your help!

1 - what version of iPhoto was on the borrowed computer? If it was a new version then it ask for permission to upgrade and explained that if yo upgraded you could not longer use the library with the older version

2 - OS X 10.7.x is a purchased upgrade from OS X 10.6.x - not a free update

Will your computer run OS X 10.8.x? That is the latest version of the OS and will run any version of iPhoto
