Hide specific drives from desktop?

Hello.

I've added an extra hard drive with partitions to store my music and photographs (since the libraries were too large to store on the system's SSD).

Unfortunately I now have a desktop plastered with drives (partitions) I don't want to see.

I can't instruct Finder to not display any drive icons since I like having my "system" drive on the desktop.

If I add the "nobrowse" attribute to /etc/fstab I'm concerned it will disappear from Time Machine's horizon or some stuff like that.

Basically I'd like to know how you have tackled this problem. I'm sure I'm not the first user to face this kind of situation.

Thanks.
