May 23, 2013 2:22 PM in response to rnb456by a brody,A very common issue with LCD inverter technology. Unfortunately the fix is often more expensive than the machine is worth. If you are lucky an external display can mirror it without the line. If not the problem is probably on the graphics chip side. Note different generations supported mini vga versus mini dvi. Be careful to buy the right adapter for your machine.

May 23, 2013 7:36 PM in response to rnb456by Allan Jones,Is the line vertical or horizontal? A number of Macs from that period with serial numbers beginning with W8 would develop vertical lines ranging from one to many. The were assembled with faulty displays. I don't think there is any recourse through Apple at this point unless you live somewhere with very consumer-friendly warranty laws.
