App Store Cards?

Why can't I use my App Store card brought in the UK for my iPad brought in San Francisco when I live in Malta. It is almost impossible to find App Store cards here.

All iTunes gift cards are country-specific, they can only be used in their country of issue (as far as I can see cards are not available in Malta). UK gift cards can only be used in the UK on UK-based iTunes accounts

Because that's the way Apple set it up.

Itunes cards can only be redeemed by an account form the country from where the card was bought. So an American itunes card can only be redeemed by an American iTunes account. A UK iTunes card can only be redeemed by a UK based iTunes account.

You need to buy an iTunes card from Malta and redeem it with an iTunes account from Malta.

There is no way around it.
