Q: (Mid 2012) Mac Pro running slow. PS5.5
Hello,
I have a Mac Pro (mid 2012)
here are it's specs:
Software = OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)
processor = 3.33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
memory = 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC (4- 2GB modules)
graphics = ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
Hard Drive = 1TB SATA Disk (367GB free of 999GB)
I would like to pause to say thank you for reading this.
I am experiencing slow performance opening and closing photoshop files & slow performance executing tasks within PS, such as moving a selected group from on side of the document to the other.
The files I work with are large, currently 1GB and it's only 1/2 completed. Multi page catalog. I design these files for print mostly so they need to be 300 - 350 dbi.
I also use premiere pro which is also a bit slow.
I know I'm probably way too low on RAM & was wondering if adding more would remedy this or if there's something less expensive it could be.
Thank you so much in advance for any advice given.
Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

leave the hdd you have 'as is' until later. your new backup bootable safety net clone
the SSD makes a big difference.
you need RAM.
keep your media drives closer to 50% max
there are other things about using SSD we end up repeating regularly, like having TRIM Enabler, making backup image and clone to a disk drive partition (200GB more than enough).
If you may want 48GB (max RAM supported for you) make the determination ahead of time, 8 vx 16GB DIMMs, cannot be mixed.
Yes, for right now in USA http://www.macsales.com/memory/mac-pro/ choose 2010/2012
