my iPad is in service mode (Wartungszustand).
Have latest iTunes, update was made less than 3 days ago.
trying to update iPad 2 to iOS 6.1.latest freezes in Firmware update (Firmware restaurieren).
After more than half an hour an "unknown error -1" pop up, update failed.
would be glad for any hints....

Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.

Then it looks like a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is required...
