Q: Apple TV

When I play a DVD on my macPro and try to see it on Apple TV i get a chequered grey and white screen and can only hear the sound.  Is it possible to watch a DVD from my laptop on my TV via Apple TV?

PowerMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

    Hi Rafael251,

The article below will explain the requirement for AirPlay Mirroring with OS X Mountain Lion.

About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion

If the model of your Mac is not supported, you may need to connect with HDMI and/or audio cables directly from your Mac to your TV.

How to use multiple displays with your Mac

    Video mirroring

Mirroring displays the same image on each display.

    1. Make sure your additional display is properly connected and powered on.
    2. From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
    3. From the View menu, choose Displays.
    4. Click the Arrangement tab.
    5. Enable (check) "Mirror Displays" in the bottom-left corner.

In the example below. the blue boxes represent each display that is connected. The white bar at the top of both boxes represents your menu bar and is shown on both displays as they are showing the same information.

I hope this information helps ...
