You need to get junk out of drive ..

AND

Well,

Try these steps,

Unplug everything on your mac except power cord ethernet cable to..

Now Make sure you have battery less than 98 %.Once the power cable is plugged hold Command +Option +R and pressing this buttons press the start button and you will see the power light on power cord connected to your mac goes green for some seconds and then becomes orange now,Dont boot and press command+option+p+r and holding these buttons boot onto system,Yeah youll listen startup chimes two time and then it will boot on to the os.

Yoru drive appears fine and the repaired permissions are normal.

See this for why your machine is booting slow, I suspect either a near full drive or a damaged hard drive, like you were moving it around while it's running.

Even I had the same problem.I tried reinstalling a new version of mavericks yet my mac was very unresponsive.

I went to the extent of changing my Harddisk.

Then This Fixed my problem:

I went to disk utilities found in Others folder in Application. I selected my main drive and choose ERASE FREE SPACE from the Erase tab. It took nearly 10 hours for my mac to run it completely.

Then It was like magic and MAC started to run faster just like how it was when I bought it.
