It sounds like you're trying to restore your shuffle to factory settings. You can actually use iTunes to do so, the following article goes over how:

itunes says it can recognize the ipod until it is reset with the ":reset utility" The reset utility says it is intended for 32 bit, I run 64. Is there any other way to restore the ipod 2nd generation ipod?

It works on windows 7 x64. But i still have the usb not reconizing problem... Does any one knows what else can i try? 10x! Leo.
