Question

My computer I baught in early 2011 has worked perfectly while operating with the previous OS. I had the strange idea upgrading it last week, and since that moment, my Mac crashes randomly and frecuently. Hi,Thanks for your answer. I was a bit suspicious about your diagnostic, so I wasted an other amount of time re installing OS X.10.8.3 and then applications one by one, but at the end the crash came bak. I just  came out from the next Apple Store where I went with your printed answer. The guy checked something on his ipad and he said OK we change your mother board (??) for free. It will take 7 days.I am very happy of this change. In general in France they often find a good reason to escape to what they owe you... Oups I hope you will understand my poor English.Thanks againChristianPS I&#x27;m now writing on a good old reliable PC/Windows XP

Cardiomed, did this resolve your problem?  I&#x27;m having the same thing with the same model, but I&#x27;m also suspicious that it&#x27;s hardware, since it only started after software upgrade.

Lion and Mountain Lion drive the GPU much harder than Snow Leopard. It likely didn&#x27;t trigger until it was pushed.

I&#x27;ve played a whole bunch of 2d and 3d games in 10.6, I have a tough time believing they weren&#x27;t driving the GPU as hard as the OS with MS Word, or waking from sleep (which always triggers the problem).

Your 2d and 3d games weren&#x27;t using the GPU to conduct non-graphics processing.Believe what you want. Free logic board replacement or $1000 for a logic board replacement when the 3 years runs out.Are you just not close enough to an Apple Store or Service Center to ask?

Ripcord: Yes it was resolved !!! Even if it is a hardware problem they will fix it becouse that particular model: MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) is defective.  Take it streight to apple store have them run the tests !! 1st apple will Test the whole system 2nd test is graphics test, make sure they run the graphics test, without graphics/video test it will not reveal the problem, also print out this link:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088  have it with you when you go to apple store !!After successfull failing graphics test apple genius will get your information and open a repair order, within 4 bussiness days you will have  your laptop back without any issues almost like brand new one !!!Special Thanks to mende1 Valmojado, Toledo, SpainRegardsMessage was edited by: Cardiomed
