thunderbolt update

hi i just got a new MacBookPro to replace a very sick MacBookPro (but thats another story)

Before i started using it, I did the right thing and Open App Store and bring it all Up To Date, which i thought went quite well, despite some of the updates being very large and it re-booted several times, so i kept on updating, or so i thought, until it hadnt got anymore updates to install, UNTIL i realised i had installed the UpDate for Thunderbolt Firmware 1.2 3 times, and still it said it wanted updating AGAIN !.

so i thought it fair to ask the members, what do you think is going on ?

can i safely ignore this Update that WILL NOT update ?, i am never going to use Thunderbolt anyway ????

The Thunderbolt update is a firmware update. Unless you saw a gray screen with a progress bar after restart, the firmware wasn't updated. The Mac must be connected to AC power for the firmware to update.

And, yes, you can ignore it.

This solved my "how do I hide unnecessary updates?" problem neatly. Thank you Eric Root! The first link (to the magazine website) has instructions for hiding unwanted updates in Mountain Lion that also works for Mavericks. Just be sure you "hover" over the actual name of the update (below the title / description.) After two hours of searching and searching these forums, Eric Root has saved the day!
