Can't Purchase or Play Already Purchases Songs

Since upgrading the itunes software on my Mac I am having problems purchasing items from the iTunes store. It tells me my password is incorrect and to try again. (I can purchase apps from my phone using same account&password no problems) also just a few days before upgrading the software I purchased an album but now it tells me that I'm not authorized to play that song. I try to authroize it and it tells me it's been authorized but when I go to play it it tells me im not authorized again. Is anyone else having this issue?? and has anyone found a solution?

Mac OS X (10.5.6)
