Low lock/unlock sounds on iPad 4? :(

Since you reset all settings and that didn't work, short of restoring the iPad, I have one off the wall suggestion... If you have anything on the videos app - any movies, TV shows, Music videos, start playing one for about 30 seconds and then you can stop it. Lock the iPad and see if the volume increases.

I can't explain why, but every time I use the videos app at all and then either close it or suspend it by using another app, all of my system sounds get louder without me adjusting the volume at all.

I have a work associate that has the iPad 3 and his lock sounds are also very low no matter what he does in the way of adjusting the volume in the settings or with the volume button.

Are you adjusting the volume slider in Settings/Soundsfor Ringer and Alerts or the main volume? There is also a setting to have the alert volumes change with the volume buttons or not.

That's why Stephen is suggesting that you check in Settings>Sounds>Change with Buttons. If that is set to OFF, then the system sounds should be adjustable with the volume slider. I have my iPad set that way and the volume button on the side controls how loud my system sounds will be.

If you have checked all of that, and you have reset settings, and neither of those have worked, have you tried rebooting the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen?

If nothing else will fix it, the last thing to do would be to restore the iPad, but if the only problem that you are having is low volume on the lock screen sound, I really don't think it is worth the time and effort to restore the iOS software.
