i purchased mountain lion at 1500 today and 3hrs later its only moved 3mm on the task bar most people say it take between 1hr 15 and 1hr 30

The time to download is completely dependent upon your network connection. You are downloading a 4.44 GB file. If you click on the 'Purchases' tab at the top in the App Store, it will show you how much you have downloaded and give you an estimated time remaining.
i on bt internet and have wifi and ethernet connected , not a techy person so dont really know what else i can tell you. can i stop it from downloading as ive started to read horror stories aboout mountain lion. i want to put windows 7 on and thought it would help being on mountain lion but now just might buy another pc rather than mess up my mac
Well I am not sure of what horror stories you have been reading but so far my Macs and all the users I help to support with Macs that can run Mountain Lion no problems have been seen. In fact the users are actually finding that they like it better.

What is your current OS? Check to see if you have Bootcamp Assistant in Applications/Utilities. If so, you can run Windows on a separate partition or use one of the programs to install it so you don't have to reboot.
I have an iMac (2008) and a MacBook Pro (2011) which use Mountain Lion with no problem.
Hi Thanks, i m really sorry i am def not a a tech person i can reissue an around the world ticket bur computers are a different animal. so am really appreciating you help and patience.. well downloaded finally complete and so far cant see a lot of diff so thats helped to keep me happy. i checked the applications and it says i have boot camp assistant. so should i now bu a copy of windows 7 to install? and is it easy to follow the instructions?

Please look under the menu/About this Mac to see how much RAM you have and then press More Info and see what Mac you are using. Then post that information - it is useful to those trying to help.
Boot Camp 5, which is what you should have, will support Windows 7 or 8 and some earlier versions of Windows.
Before you decide what to do, you need to decide how you want your computer to work with Windows. If you don't mind having to reboot the computer to work with Mac OS or Windows, then Boot Camp will work fine. If you want to switch between the two without having to reboot, then one of the programs I provided links for would probably be a better choice.
