my iPod makes a beeping sound..

Hi
Recently, my iPod has been making a weird beeping melody sound.
example: do dee do dee do dee
:]

Anyway, this occurs right after i turn off my iPod and i put it on hold.
IT makes the beeping noise and then it turns on automatically, with out me touching it and without me moving it off of "hold". The backlight doesn't turn on either.

I'm confused as to why this happens..
help!
