I am getting an eight ball icon when I start my computer. I can still sign in but my computer is acting very oddly. What does the eight ball mean? (I have OS 10.7.5 on a Macbook pro mid 2009.)
Is this the picture attached to your account name?
System Preferences > Users & Groups (Accounts).
It is an eight ball, which is the eightball given as a choice in the photo attached to my account name. I never had used it so that's why I didn't recognize it at first. It changed itself from a picture of me to the eight ball.
The other weird thing that is happening it that my mouse line is offset from where I am drawing with using my usual drafting program, VectorWorks, which otherwise works perfectly. Also things have gotten slow.
I ran permission fixing but that did no good. Will check out step by step link.
