drum kits disappeared from GarageBand/reinstall them

hi everyone,

I just noticed that my drum kits on GarageBand were gone. or to be more specific, they're now all the same. Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Jazz... the six of them have exactly the same sounds now. I checked my hard disk and I still have the files for the six different drum kits and I can also play them (I dragged and dropped one file and I could play the sound). but they're not installed and I can't use them as what they're supposed to be, drum kits (software instruments).

does anyone knows what I need to do to install them again ?

I really have no idea what happened and the problem is only with drum kits, all other software instruments and loops are there.

the Rock Kit has about 200 sounds where the Dance Kit has only 25 :/

Same here, Rock Kit = 192 files

Dance Kit = 26 files,

HipHop Kit= 12 aif files, 5 other

"Are the permissions o.k. on your Instrument Library?"

I meant the permission settings, that are restricting the access to the Instrument library and its subfolders. When you select the Instrument Library in the Finder and select the command "File > Get Info" from the main menu bar or press ⌘I, then you will see the permissions in the "Info" panel, like this:

User uploaded file

You can change the permissions after pressing the padlock icon and authorizing as administrator. You should have at least read access, and the system Read&Write.

If you click the cogwheel, the drop down menu will allow to apply the permissions to all enclosed items.

What I suspect is, that GarageBand does not have permissions to access the instruments, if they are there, but do not play.

if changing the permissions does not help, you may want to restore the instrument library from t

your backup, if you have a backup that goes back in time to the time where the drums were working correctly.

I checked my hard disk

Where did you check? Your instrument library? And which files exactly did you play? The sampler files or or loops?

/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files/Hip Hop Kit/

/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Instruments/Hip Hop Kit.exs

Are the permissions o.k. on your Instrument Library?

Do you get any warnings, when try to you use a Hip Hop Beat loop?

I checked :

Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files

Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Instruments

Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Track Settings/Software/Drum Kits

in the first, I have the actual .aif sounds and they're all there, for the six drum kits.

I see that the Rock and Jazz Kits are much more sounds than the others. it seems a little strange.

the Rock Kit has about 200 sounds where the Dance Kit has only 25 :/

and on the HipHop Kit, I have some .aif but only 12 and 5 files with no extension (and I can't play them). and that is it.

in the second I have the .exs files for the six drum kits.

in the third, I have the .cst files for the six drum kits again.

I dragged and dropped an .aif file -taken from the Rock kit found in the Sampler Files, a kick or a snare, it works with all of them anyway- on my Garageband window and it showed like any other sound.

"Are the permissions o.k. on your Instrument Library?"

hmm, I'm sorry but I don't know what that is :/

"Do you get any warnings, when try to you use a Hip Hop Beat loop?"

no, it works fine and the computer doesn't give me any warning.

I tried to use different beat loops (Hip Hop and Rock), I tried to modify them just like in a software instrument, I added notes, I erased other notes...

and it worked fine and the sounds are what they should be.

the only problem is when I'm trying to choose a Software Instrument. there, the six drum kits are the same.
